Beginning in 1948, the Maryland Men’s Golf program has seen incredible achievements:
The Terps have made 15 NCAA appearances throughout its history. Maryland has also produced eight All-Americans, eight PING All-Region selections, and a two-time U.S. Amateur Champion (Deane Beman, ’60, ’63).
Maryland excelled during their time in the ACC. The Terps notched the 1964 ACC title, and were runner up seven times in nearly back-to-back seasons. Maryland saw four ACC individual champions, seven All-ACC selections, and ACC Coach of the year in 1994 (Tom Hanna).
Since joining the Big Ten Conference, Maryland has seen two All-Big Ten selections in recent players David Kocher and Peter Knade.
The men’s golf program has recorded eleven individual titles since it first began. Two former Terps have been named Maryland Open Champions (Del Ponchock ’93, and Keith Unikel ’98), and another two have taken home Maryland Amateur titles in 2010 and 2017 (Sean Bosdosh and Ben Warnquist).
The state of the art facility indoor performance center will allow our players to utilize technology in a weather-controlled environment to develop their games. This investment in the Maryland golf programs will elevate both programs on the national level and prepare our players to compete for championships.
