As a former student-athlete, I know firsthand how important quality facilities are for the development of young golfers. Maryland Golf played such an important role in my personal and professional development, and this new facility project represents an incredible investment in the future of the program. Providing student-athletes with top-level resources and a space dedicated to training, player development, and team culture will have a tremendous impact on current and future Terps while continuing to elevate Maryland Golf for generations to come.

The University of Maryland Golf Course was truly where I grew up. I went from an 11-year-old employee to golf team member to head coach to the PGA Tour. When I became the coach, I wanted to build the program to be competitive with the other ACC schools, but our practice facilities held us back. Fast forward to the new attitude today to put Maryland in a position to compete with the Big Ten schools and we're already seeing the difference. With the new custom team van and the forthcoming Stephen M. Schanwald Golf Performance Center, Maryland Golf will be able to compete in a way like never before.
