Maryland produced four NCAA qualifiers, the most since the 2013-14 campaign, when the Terps sent redshirt senior Billy Rappo (133), redshirt sophomores Ryan Diehl (141) and Alfred Bannister (149) and sophomore Youssif Hemida (285) to St. Louis, Mo.
The Terps put three wrestlers on the podium at the Big Ten Championships, as Ryan Diehl (5th), Alfred Bannister (6th) and Youssuf Hemida (7th) all made their first career B1G podium appearances. It was Maryland’s most podium finishes since joining the conference, while the team’s 11th place finish was its best since joining the B1G.
Maryland would finish tied for 35th at the NCAA Championships, propelled in part from Youssif Hemida’s Session IV “Blood Round” appearance in the heavyweight division.
