The Maryland men’s golf team competed with a young, talented lineup throughout the season, ending the year with a strong showing at the Big Ten Tournament.
Junior David Kocher led the way for the Terrapins throughout the season. Kocher played in all 11 tournament as well, finishing in the top 10 three times and the top 20 seven times.
Sophomore Tim Colanta played in all 11 tournaments over the season, finishing in the top 10 twice and the top 20 five times. In his best outing of the year, he tied for seventh in the Janney VCU Shootout last fall when he went seven-under par to lead the Terrapins.
Freshman Bennett Buch played in all six tournaments this spring and one in the fall. He consistently finished in the top 50 of each. In his strongest outing of the year, he finished tied for 17th in the East Carolina Intercollegiate April 3-4.
Buch, Colanta and Kocher were named to the PING All-Region Northeast Team.
Kocher led the way for Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament, finishing fourth overall and earning All-Tournament Team honors. In Sunday's third round, he posted the lowest score in the field with a five-under 65. Kocher birdied five of his last nine holes, using just 30 strokes. He finished the tournament -2 overall with a score of 208 (71-72-65).
As a team, the Terrapins posted the lowest score of the day in the final round of the Big Ten Tournament with a 276, along with Iowa.
Kocher earned his third straight individual NCAA Regionals bid. He competed in the West Lafayette Regional.
