WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Big Ten: 9th
- Maryland produced two NCAA qualifiers during the 2016 indoor season, as both Chioma Onyekwere and Micha Powell made their first career appearances the NCAA Championships for the Terps.
- The squad secured two team victories on the season, finishing first out of 24 teams at the Great Dane Invitational while defending home turf with a team win at the Terrapin Invitational.
- The Terps took ninth at the Big Ten Championships, as Onyekwere took home Second Team All-Big Ten Honors in the weight throw. Onyekwere broke a 14-year record in the weight throw at the event with a personal-best toss of 21.17 meters (69’5.50”). The mark smashed the previous Maryland record (66’9.25”) set by Ruth Kura back in 2002.
- Micha Powell also finished the season as a Maryland record holder in the 400m, resetting the all-time indoor mark at 52.56 at the B1G Championships.
