- Do-it-all cornerback/return specialist William Likely dazzled crowds from the outset of the season, accumulating an astounding 233 punt return yards in the season-opener against Richmond. The mark smashed a 76-year-old Big Ten record, setting the tone for Likely’s All-America campaign.
- A total of seven players earned All-Big Ten Conference accolades, including William Likely, who became Maryland’s first defensive back to be named First Team All-Big Ten in back-to-back seasons since Keeta Covington (1985-86). Yannick Ngakoue was also a First Team All-Big Ten selection.
- Defensive end Yannick Ngakoue had a historic season, compiling a Maryland single-season record 13.5 sacks. The previous record had stood since 1982.
- Maryland had three players selected in the 2016 NFL Draft: Sean Davis (Pittsburgh Steelers – 2nd Round), Yannick Ngakoue (Jacksonville Jaguars – 3rd Round) and Quinton Jefferson (Seattle Seahawks – 5th Round).
