  • Maryland finished 30-27, its school record fifth straight 30-win season and fourth under head coach John Szefc. Maryland made the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament, its third consecutive year in postseason play, also a school record.
  • The Terps featured Freshman All-Americans Nick Dunn and Marty Costes, who led Maryland in multiple offensive categories. Dunn started all 57 games and paced the squad in average (.300) and doubles (16) en route to being named third team All-Big Ten and to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. Costes was also a Big Ten All-Freshman selection after leading Maryland in home runs (9) and RBI (37)
  • Starting pitchers Taylor Bloom, Brian Shaffer and Mike Shawaryn gave the Terps a formidable starting rotation. Bloom notched five complete games and finished with a 2.46 ERA, earning third team All-Big Ten honors. Shaffer was also named to the third team after recording a 2.60 ERA and leading the team with eight wins. He held batters to a .209 average.
  • Shawaryn staked his claim as the best pitcher in program history, finishing his career as the school record holder in career strikeouts (307), wins (30) and innings pitched (307.1). He struck out 16 against Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament in the final start of his career. He held opponents to a .195 average and struck out 97 batters during the 2016 season.
  • Maryland earned a program record seven conference weekly awards.
