QUICK FACTS

• The women’s tennis team posted the highest semester team GPA while the men’s soccer team posted the highest team GPA on the men’s side.
• Twenty-one (21) Maryland students earned a perfect 4.00 semester GPA during the 2014-2015 academic year.
• A total of 231 students earned a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher in the fall 2014 semester while 219 student-athletes did so in the most recent spring 2015 semester.
• One hundred forty-nine (149) students were named to their respective College Dean’s Lists during the 2014-2015 academic year.
• Two hundred ninety-nine (299) students were named to the 2014-2015 Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for earning a 3.00 semester GPA in the fall and/or spring semesters.
• One hundred fifty-nine (159) students were named to the 2014-2015 Academic All-Big Ten Team for fall, winter, and spring sports.
• One hundred eight (108) students will graduate during the 2014-2015 academic year.

ACADEMIC AWARDS

• Seniors Josh Polacek (MWR) and Shannon Bustillos (WSB) were named as the 2014-2015 Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship recipients.
• Varun Ram (MBB) and Malina Howard (WBB) were named the Big Ten Medal of Honor recipients for outstanding academic achievement.
• Shannon Bustillos (WSB) was named a recipient of the prestigious NCAA Ethnic Minority/Women’s Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics.
• Both Malina Howard (WBB) and Zoe Stukenberg (WLA) were named as NCAA Elite 89 recipients while posting the highest cumulative GPA of all student-athletes participating at their respective Final Four venues.
• Graduates Ben Brewster (MBA), Kyle Convissar (MBA), Sean O’Leary (MTO), Kayla Clarke (WSO), Elizabeth Manzi (WGY), and Rebecca Yep (WTR/WCC) were all named as recipients of the 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award.

NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Summary (2013-2014)

• All 20 athletic programs reported a multi-year score of .930 or higher and as a result, no post-season penalties were assessed by the NCAA.
• The 2013-2014 ICA departmental APR score is at an all-time high (.986) since the inception of the APR in 2003.
• A record eleven (11) sport programs reported a perfect single year APR score of 1.000 (MBA, MGO, WBB, WCC, WGY, WSO, WSB, WTE, WTI, WTO, WVB).
• Fifteen (15) sport programs reported a multi-year score of .970 or higher.
• Ten (10) sport programs reported a multi-year score equal/higher than the NCAA National average for their respective sports.

NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) Summary (2014)

• The University of Maryland tied its all-time record high institutional GSR score of 86% marking the fifth time in the ten-year history of the metric that Maryland has been above 80 percent and the fifth straight year the campus has tied or set a school record.
• The GSR score of 86% is higher than the NCAA aggregate of 82%.
• Six (6) sport programs reported a perfect score of 100 percent (MBB, MGO, WFH, WGY, WSO, WVB).

Leadership and career development initiatives are critical in assisting student-athletes to develop a foundation for a successful career after intercollegiate athletics. Maryland student-athletes participated in:
