• Maryland dominated the league in its first season in the Big Ten, going a perfect 18-0 in league play and winning the Big Ten Tournament title as well. The Terrapins are the third team in league history and first men’s or women’s team in school history to go undefeated in conference play. Maryland won its fifth conference title under head coach Brenda Frese this year.
• After a 2014 Final Four berth, the Terrapins entered this season with question marks thanks to the departure of five seniors. They picked up where they left off from the previous year, ranking in the top five in the country most of the year.
• The Terps earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and played the first two rounds at home in XFINITY Center. They beat New Mexico State, then undefeated Princeton to advance to the NCAA Regionals in Spokane, Wash. They topped fourth-seeded Duke in the Sweet Sixteen, then No. 6 Tennessee in the Elite Eight to win a berth to the Final Four in Tampa.
• Four Terrapins earned All-Big Ten honors, as Brionna Jones, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Lexie Brown were named to the First Team. Laurin Mincy was selected to the Second Team. Head coach Brenda Frese was voted Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time in her career.
• Junior Malina Howard was awarded the Elite 89 Award as the student-athlete with the highest GPA among the Final Four teams. Five student-athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten Honors, including Howard, Brown, Chloe Pavlech, Tierney Pfirman and Brionna Jones.
