Since its opening in 1995, Ludwig Field has served as the home to the Maryland Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs. In this period, the programs have combined to win three national championships, advance to nine College Cups, make 37 NCAA Tournaments and boast 28 All-America honorees. Over the years, Ludwig has featured one of the top game experience atmospheres in all of college soccer, with the notorious student fan section “The Crew” helping create a raucous environment unmatched across the country. On the men’s side, the Terps have ranked among the top-five in the nation in attendance since the turn of the century.
Located next to Jones-Hill House, the new Maryland Soccer Stadium offers exciting amenities to the student-athletes, coaches, and friends of Terrapin Soccer, while creating a landmark on the Western edge of the University of Maryland campus. This new facility will upgrade the student-athlete experience for over 50 soccer student-athletes annually.

For the better part of my 27 years leading this program, I have passionately espoused my vision of having a soccer stadium to properly reflect our great history and ensure our future excellence. Our alumni, our donors, and our incredible fan base have been anxiously awaiting this announcement! To finally see that vision become a reality leaves me incredibly happy and, quite honestly, very emotional! I am very grateful to the leadership of Damon Evans in finding a wonderful solution that helps our track and field program as well as both soccer programs. I can't wait for the first shovel to dig in!

This program is so close to competing for championships. We just need people who can dig deep, who can put this program on the map, which I know that the players that we're bringing in, and the current roster as well, can make it happen quickly. And part of that is the future venue for Maryland soccer. The passion and interest in Terrapin soccer is unmatched and I can’t wait for what’s ahead.
