Football
• After a record setting junior season, Likely suffered a season-ending ACL tear midway through his senior season
• Despite the injury, Likely continued to lead his team by giving advice to younger players and even addressing the entire team before a road trip
• Just five months after his ACL tear, Likely, through tireless training, was able to partially participate at both the NFL combine and Maryland’s pro day.
• An All-American and two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection, Likely owns or shares six different Maryland football records
SAMANTHA HIGGINBOTHEM
Volleyball
Jr., Defensive Specialist, Middletown, Md.
• Was diagnosed with severe scoliosis as a child and told she may not walk and should never play sports
• Was only recruited by Maryland and Division III schools out of high school
• Saw time in 31 matches in 2016 and started 19 times, averaging 1.58 digs per set
• 2016 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient; two-time Academic All-Big Ten
ALEXANDRA STANOVA
Women's Tennis
• Suffered a season-ending knee injury in her sophomore year and battled back to the No. 1 slot in the Terps’ lineup her junior season
• Emerged as Maryland’s most consistent performer in her senior season, which resulted in a fall berth at the ITA National Indoors with partner Kristina Hovsepyan
• Played at the No. 1 doubles and singles slot in her senior season
• Surpassed her junior season singles win total in just the first 10 matches of her senior season
• (As of 4/16) 11-4 doubles record and a 10-6 singles record
TAYLOR STILES
Baseball
Sr., LHP Bowie, Md.
• Developed into Maryland’s Saturday starter in 2015 before suffering a potentially career ending eye injury when a ball was lined off his face against Cal State Fullerton.
• Missed the remainder of the season and went through multiple surgeries to repair a fractured orbital bone and other eye injuries.
• Returned to pitch in the fall of 2016 and part of the spring, before having to end his season prematurely.
• (As of 4/16) Continues to pitch in a specially made mask, and has made 13 appearances for Maryland in 2017 with a 4.91 ERA and two wins.
JULI STRANGE
Softball
R-Sr. 3B, 2B, Valencia, Calif.
• Returned for final season at Maryland after missing entire 2016 season due to injury.
• One of the most consistent players for Maryland, leading team in on base percentage and runs scored.
• Ranks inside the top-5 all-time in school history in runs scored with 120 in her career.
• Was sidelined in the fall of 2013 after a serious scooter injury that hospitalized her, before returning to play in 42 games that spring.
• Moved from 2B to 3B midway through the season, and has been a staple for the Terps defensively
