WHAT IS IT?

This spring, Maryland Athletics will hold its sixth Men’s Basketball Seat Adjustment. Seat Adjustments give season ticket holders the opportunity to improve seating based on Terpoints accumulated through donations, consecutive years being a Terrapin Club member, and season ticket holder loyalty. Each individual Terrapin Club member will be able to pick their seats based off their cumulative Terpoint total. The Terpoint system is intended to promote fairness, reward the loyalty of our long-time supporters, and encourage involvement in the Terrapin Club. All of the funds raised through the Seat Adjustment process support the Terrapins' 500+ student-athletes.

You may make your seat selection in one of three ways:

TERPOINTS

In an effort to equitably serve Terrapin Club members, the allocation process to determine priority for tickets is based on priority point level (Terpoints). The Terpoint system was updated as of Nov. 1, 2019. Any points accumulated up until that time will be in the historical category. Please see the chart below for all current point calculations.

If you currently do not have Maryland Men’s Basketball season tickets and are interested in attaining them as part of the upcoming Seat Adjustment follow these easy steps:

  1. Complete the interest form by clicking HERE in order to secure a seat selection appointment time. Please note, appointment times and season tickets will be allocated based on Terpoint Priority.
  2. Make a donation to the Terrapin Club by calling 301-314-7020 or clicking HERE. A minimum donation of $135 to the Terrapin Club is required for Men’s Basketball season tickets. (Giving the minimum donation does not guarantee the ability to secure season tickets)
  3. Select your season tickets during your designated appointment time (seat selection will take place from May 4 and May 29, 2020).

No, every seat in XFINITY Center, except for Building Partners’ seats, is open for selection by appointment.
Seat Adjustments give the opportunity to improve seating based on Terpoints accumulated through donations, consecutive years being a Terrapin Club member, and season ticket holder loyalty. If you are interested in making an additional donation to earn new Terpoints, please consider one of Maryland Athletics' top funding priorities:
With the exception of Building Partners, seat assignments for season ticket holders are reassigned during each seat adjustment period. Terrapin Club members will select their seat at an appointment time determined by their Terpoint ranking. Because members are selecting their own seats, it is impossible for staff to predict the seating preferences of each individual member.
Terrapin Club members will have the opportunity to select seats in one of three ways:
  1. Online at a set appointment time via umterps.com/seatadjustment
  2. Over the phone at a predetermined appointment time
  3. In-person at XFINITY Center at a predetermined appointment time between May 4 and May 29

Donors who are unable to select their seats in person may do so by telephone, or can appoint a proxy to select on their behalf. A proxy form can be found HERE must be submitted at least one week prior to your appointment time.
Yes. The 2020 Seat Adjustment is a great opportunity to get involved with Maryland Men’s Basketball, choose your seats and start a new tradition. By participating in the 2020 Seat Adjustment as a new season ticket holder you will pick your seats and be eligible to request seat upgrades as they become available, based upon your Terpoint priority rank. Visit umterps.com/seatadjustment to secure an appointment request. If you are not a current season ticket holder, you will need to make your donation to the Terrapin Club prior to the March 31, 2020 deadline and indicate your request to select your seats by filling out the intent form.
Life members, who did not make a capital campaign gift to become a Building Partner to qualify for long-term seating rights, are part of the seat adjustment process. Along with all other Terrapin Club members, specific seat assignments for Life Members will be made in Terpoint ranking order. Life Members will continue to receive their four complimentary tickets and will not be required to make an annual contribution, although more than fifty percent of Life Members voluntarily do make an additional annual contribution to support our student-athletes.
You will be able to select the maximum number of seats for which your member level qualifies until we reach capacity. In order to retain the number of seats selected in non-seat adjustment years, you will be required to maintain the appropriate annual giving level.
Whether a Terrapin Club member qualifies for tickets for the 2020-21 season as a new or existing customer, all members will have the opportunity to select their seats based on their Terpoint priority ranking until we reach capacity.
Yes. Terrapin Club members who wish to sit together must request in advance to have their seat selection appointment times set at the same time and then may choose their seats together. The group’s appointment time will be assigned based upon the lowest Terpoint total of all the group members. The group must submit the group request no later than March 31, 2020. Not exactly. On any given day, we can tell you what it would take to move from one priority rank to another, but that figure is only accurate for that moment in time, since one’s Terpoint ranking is relative to gifts and member referrals that other Terrapin Club members might make. What we can do is give you the point total of the area you would like to sit in as it stands today. This is not a guarantee, but a guide.
Yes. You will have two payment options at the time of checkout. You can pay in full following your selection, or take advantage of our seven-month deferred payment plan. All payment plans regardless of selection date will begin at the end of May.
Members must make a Terrapin Club gift each year to qualify for ticket, parking, and hospitality benefits. Members will not be able to make a contribution during the 2019-20 season to cover ticket, parking, and hospitality benefits beyond the 2020-21 season. Although increased donations are welcomed to help each member be competitive in the seat selection process, gifts given during the 2019-20 season will receive benefits during the 2020-21 season only. Should a member choose to drop their donation in subsequent years, the Terrapin Club reserves the right to re-allocate benefits.
Building Partners who participated in any of the Building Partner Campaigns and received their seat assignments in any of the Seat Adjustment periods have long-term rights to their seat location. Therefore, they are not subject to the 2020 Seat Adjustment provided they are current with their Men's Basketball ticket payments and Terrapin Club membership requirements.
The faculty and staff section is 110. Seat selections by faculty and staff within that section will be determined by Terpoints.
There is not a Terpoint threshold that will guarantee a current season ticket holder will keep their seats. All eligible members (minimum $135 giving level) that wish to participate in Seat Adjustment will be given an appointment time and seat selection will continue until we reach capacity.
The XFINITY Center Young Alumni section is 217. Seat selections by Young Alumni will be determined by Terpoints. The required minimum donation to purchase season tickets for young alumni is:
  • $25 - First year graduates
  • $50 - Second year graduates
  • $75 - Third year graduates
  • $100 - Fourth year graduates
  • $125 - Fifth year graduates
In this scenario, seat selection appointment times will be assigned based on the following priority.
  • First: Years of Donating to the Terrapin Club
  • Second: Lifetime Giving to the Terrapin Club
  • Third: Years of Purchasing Season Tickets
  • Fourth: Date of Your Season Ticket Purchase
Patrons who require accessible seating or parking because of their disability will have access to purchase season tickets and parking for their accessible needs. Season ticket holders who are in need of ADA accessibility should contact the Maryland Ticket Office at 800-462-TERP to provide information on their specific need. Seat selection appointment times for ADA accessible areas will be available to qualified patrons in Terpoint priority rank order.
