J.D. MAARLEVELD

Consensus All-American (1985)

J.D. Maarleveld began his football career at the University of Notre Dame. Shortly after his sophomore season, J.D. was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

After beating the disease, Maarleveld no longer had a spot on the team with the Fighting Irish, and then transferred to Maryland. Maarleveld thrived at Maryland, and would become a consensus All-American. He would also go on to win the Brian Piccolo Award in the ACC for overcoming adversity.
