DALE CASTRO
Consensus All-American (1979)
Dale Castro joined the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009 as one of the most successful Place Kickers/Punters in Maryland Football history. His record-setting career from 1977-1980 was capped off with his consensus All-American selection at the end of the 1979 season.
During his All-American season, he tied the NCAA record for most field goals made in a half with four to help lead the Terps to a 35-14 win over Mississippi State. He would go on to start that season 16-16 on field goal attempts which was then an NCAA record.
This Walter Camp Award Recipient ranks fourth in career punting yards (8,584), seventh in career field goal percentage (.692) and tenth in career field goals (27).
