  • In his first season at the helm, Willard led the Terps to a 22-13 overall record, a NCAA Tournament Second Round appearance, and a national Top-25 ranking during the season.
  • Became the first coach in program history to achieve 20 wins, to earn a national ranking, and to lead the Terps to a NCAA Tournament berth in his first season.
  • Was also the first coach in Maryland history to start their tenure 8-0 and was the first coach in Big Ten history to win each of his first seven games by at least 15 points.
  • The 2022-23 campaign was also highlighted by five Top 25 wins including a 68-54 sellout win over No. 3 Purdue, a perfect 10-0 record in home Big Ten games, and a 16-1 mark at the XFINITY Center which saw three sellouts overall.
  • The Terps finished the year ranked No. 32 in the NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool) after being as high as No. 6 and spent 11 weeks ranked or receiving votes in the Top 25 with a high of No. 13 in the AP Poll.

  • The 2022-23 campaign was the most successful season in recent memory, as Maryland finished with a 10-9 record, the most dual wins since the 2012-13 season.
  • Clemsen's squad also produced five 2023 NCAA Qualifiers (Braxton Brown, Ethen Miller, Kal Miller, Jaron Smith and Jaxon Smith), for the highest number since 2014.
  • All five guys remained in competition on the second day of tournament action, the most since 2010.
  • Under Clemsen, Jaxon Smith finished in third place at 197 pounds at the 2023 Big Ten Championships, the highest finish for a Maryland wrestler since 2019.
  • Defeated No. 16 Pittsburgh to earn the program's first ranked win since 2013
  • The Terps entered the NWCA Poll for the first time since 2013
  • The program also picked up its first Big Ten win since 2016 in a 19-18 win over Purdue (Clemsen’s first Big Ten win) as well as its first victory over the storied Oklahoma Sooners in program history.

  • Under Locksley’s guidance, Maryland won its most games (8) in a single season since 2010.
  • Maryland defeated No. 23 N.C. State in the 2022 Duke’s Mayo Bowl a year after topping Virginia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl. It’s the first time the Terps have won bowl games in consecutive seasons since 2002-03.
  • Maryland has posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2013-14.
  • Thirteen Terps garnered All-Big Ten recognition in 2022, highlighted by kicker Chad Ryland and quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa being named Second Team All-Conference.
  • Five Terps were selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, the most for Maryland since 2009.
