Family reunions are celebrations of love and connection. They give everyone a chance to take a break from work and school, spend some quality time together and remember what's uniquely wonderful about being part of the same family… They provide the opportunity to leave home and make memories in a new place – together.
Maryland Head Football Coach Michael Locksley has always described his football program as a “family.” On Saturdays this fall, he will host the country’s largest family reunions right here in College Park. Like any family reunion, there are ice cold drinks and lawn games. There are first time introductions, long time no sees, and deep connections made deeper. There are burgers and hotdogs on the grill and fresh squeezed lemonade. There’s the center of attention that you’re hard-pressed to look away from. And there’s even the reunion host, who can’t wait to show you the new addition to their home and their brand-new big screen TV.
If this past year has reminded us anything, it’s of the importance of family and connection -- of the type of kinship afforded to us at family reunions. This fall, Maryland Football invites its extended family -- Terrapin fans from near and far -- to its home in College Park for the country’s largest (and loudest) family reunion.
