New Football and Men’s Basketball Season Ticket Model for 2025-26
As the state of intercollegiate athletics continues to transform, we must keep pace, evolve and continue to invest in the championship resources needed to win at the highest levels. Empowering our most loyal fans while growing support from a new generation of Terps is paramount, and we know that it requires a reimagination of the fan experience - from all angles.
As announced in July 2024, Maryland Athletics is transitioning to a per seat contribution for Football and Men’s Basketball, providing fair and affordable options while opening up access to more desirable seating that has previously been unavailable. The seat selection process for Football season ticket holders begins on Wednesday, Feb. 12, followed by Men’s Basketball and Parking selections taking place in the spring.

Each individual Terrapin Club member will be assigned a seat selection time based on their cumulative Terpoint total. The Terpoint system is intended to promote fairness, reward the loyalty of our longtime supporters, and encourage involvement in the Terrapin Club.

Terrapin Club
The Terrapin Club is committed to strengthening the valuable and meaningful connection fans have with the Football and Men’s Basketball programs, Maryland Athletics, and the University of Maryland. In doing so, we need to continue to invest in the resources needed to position each of our sports to win conference and national championships. Donor contributions in support of Maryland Athletics are rewarded in a variety of ways including exclusive donor experiences and engagements.
What’s changing with the Terrapin Club starting with the 2025-26 season?
- A shift to an all-in giving model that combines all giving to Maryland Athletics into one contribution total. This total correlates to your Terrapin Club member level and appropriately rewards and stewards donors who give to other fund opportunities.
- The previous model only took into account Impact Fund and Seating Fund support. Only commitments made through the University of Maryland College Park Foundation or through Maryland Athletics will be included.
- A streamlined benefits chart that reflects the all-in giving model outlined above provides greater detail around gameday parking access, offers a more personalized experience for highly invested supporters, introduces an exclusive giving level and more.
- An updated Terpoint priority ranking system that rewards philanthropic giving and fans who increase their support year-over-year.

NOTE: Current SECU Stadium and XFINITY Center Building Partners will not be affected by the Seat Adjustment for the seats outlined in their agreement and will continue to abide by the existing terms of their contract. What is a per seat model?
A per seat model is a process in which fans pay a straightforward, total investment for each individual seat that includes both the season ticket cost and required donation (also known as the per seat contribution). The per seat total is the same, regardless of the number of Football and/or Men’s Basketball tickets a Terrapin fan purchases.
Why is Maryland Athletics changing to a per seat model for season tickets?
After several months of analysis taking into consideration fan feedback from survey results and focus groups as well as researching peer institutions, Maryland Athletics is evolving to a season ticket model that includes a per seat contribution. This new model will provide various options for season ticket holders, many of which will see a reduction in their overall seating contribution requirement. The per seat model creates more opportunities for new Terrapin fans to purchase tickets throughout our venues in a simplified purchasing process and streamlined manner.When is Maryland Athletics transitioning the Football and Men's Basketball season ticket process to a per seat model?

A per seat contribution is the minimum Terrapin Club contribution amount per seat that is required to purchase season tickets in designated sections for Football and Men’s Basketball.What does the per seat contribution support?
Per seat contributions support the overall Maryland student-athlete experience while helping our teams win conference and national championships. Support will help cover expenses tied to funding for scholarships, facility projects, mental health and nutrition resources, career development, and more for 500+ student-athletes and our 20 sports. Per seat contributions support similar initiatives that the Terrapin Club Seating Fund supported in prior years.How does this change my annual giving level to the Terrapin Club?
Season ticket holders for Football and Men’s Basketball that have had Terrapin Club Seating Fund requirements for specific giving levels in order to maintain their seats will transition to a per seat contribution. In doing so, we have updated the Terrapin Club giving levels and benefits chart to reflect a simplified benefits chart into one all-in giving total. The per seat contribution will be combined with any additional athletic gifts made in the same fiscal year to Maryland Athletics or University of Maryland College Park Foundation and count towards a donor’s annual giving level to the Terrapin Club, along with the corresponding benefits outlined in the benefits chart.The new all-in giving model will take effect for benefits beginning in 2025 and will carry through June of 2026. Is my per seat contribution tax-deductible?
The per seat contribution is NOT tax-deductible. This is consistent with the tax law changes from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and how we have processed seat-related donation requirements since that time. Our peer institutions also operate in this same manner. Should the tax law change to allow tax-deductible donation receipts to be issued via the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, we will take full advantage of those opportunities for our donors and fans. Gifts to other athletics funds through the University of Maryland College Park Foundation remain tax-deductible as law permits. As always, please consult your tax professional for tax-related advice.If I have both Football and Men’s Basketball season tickets, do I pay a separate per seat contribution for each?
Yes, for any sections that have a per seat contribution, you would pay separately for each individual ticket. Please refer to the Personalized Calculator to determine your total investment based on your preferences.If I am already paying a per seat contribution for premium seating (i.e. courtside, mezzanine), will I have to pay an additional amount?
The per seat contribution process for premium seating areas will remain in place and are subject to increases each year. For any seats that you purchase outside of the premium areas, you will have to pay the established per seat contribution.How many tickets can I purchase?
In an effort to discourage unfair ticket-buying practices, the maximum number of tickets allowable for purchase is ten (10) per sport. Premium seating (i.e. courtside, mezzanine seats) will not count toward the ticket limit.Is obstructed view seating available as part of the new per seat model for 2025-26?
Seating in Rows D-K is still available, but it will be subject to the prevailing per seat contribution in each respective section. Rows A-C will no longer be offered.What are Terpoints and how do you accumulate them?
The Terpoint priority points system is intended to promote fairness, reward the loyalty of our long-time supporters, and encourage philanthropic involvement in the Terrapin Club. In an effort to equitably serve Terrapin Club annual members, the allocation process to determine priority for tickets and parking is based on Terpoints.Terpoints are accrued for gifts that are made by season ticket contributions, as well as any philanthropic gift made to Maryland Athletics. As of July 1, 2024, donations made through One Maryland Collective will also be rewarded with priority points. The priority point system may continue to update with notification to closely support the fundraising needs of Maryland Athletics within the changing landscape of college athletics. Already a donor? What is a seat adjustment and how does the seat selection process work?
The seat adjustment process gives season ticket holders the opportunity to select seating based on Terpoints accumulated through philanthropic donations, seat-based contributions, consecutive years being a Terrapin Club donor, and season ticket holder loyalty. Each individual season ticket holder will be able to choose their seats based on their cumulative Terpoints total as of Dec. 31, 2024 in an available location that best aligns with what they are interested in (price point, location, etc.).The seat selection process is an interactive, online appointment that allows season ticket holders to choose from an interactive 3D venue map that displays virtual views from the seat.
How will my seat be assigned for Football?
Prior to the 2025 season, we will conduct a seat adjustment where all season ticket holders (excluding long-term mezzanine and suite holders) will have an opportunity to select seats based on Terpoint priority order. Terrapin Club donors who wish to sit together must request, in advance, to have their seat selection appointment times set at the same time and then may choose their seats together. The group’s appointment time will be assigned based upon the group member with the lowest Terpoints total.Do I have to pay for my season tickets and parking at the time of my selection appointment?
Yes. At the time of checkout, you will have two payment options for your season tickets (season ticket cost + per seat contribution) and parking. For Football, you will select and pay for your parking as part of the parking adjustment process in June. For Men's Basketball, yes, at the time of checkout via the seat selection process in April, you will have two payment options for your season tickets (season ticket cost + per seat contribution) and parking. You can pay in full following your selection, or take advantage of our seven-month payment plan.How many parking passes do I get with my season tickets?
Season ticket holders can purchase one permit for every four season tickets. This will remain in place when we shift to the 2025-26 per seat model.- 1-4 Season Tickets - 1 Parking Passes
- 5-8 Season Tickets - 2 Parking Passes
- 9-10 Season Tickets - 3 Parking Passes
How will this affect my parking assignment?
For football, a parking adjustment will take place in June 2025. Because of continued construction on campus, specific details of the process will be shared at a later date so that we can accurately reflect that parking status ahead of the season.For Men's Basketball, season ticket holders will select and pay for their parking as part of the seat selection process in April 2025.

Are there future plans for a seat adjustment for Football and Men’s Basketball beyond the 2025 seat adjustment?
Currently, no additional seat adjustments are scheduled for either Football or Men’s Basketball. That said, future seat adjustments may be enacted based upon changes in demand, access to parking, significant facility enhancements, or other substantial changes that necessitate an adjustment. If a seat adjustment is deemed essential, every effort will be made to inform season ticket holders with as much notice as possible.If I am not currently a season ticket holder and am interested in Football or Men’s Basketball season tickets, how do I purchase or participate in the seat selection process?
Participation in the Football seat selection process is no longer available, however, there is still time to secure a spot in the Men’s Basketball seat selection process! We have multiple premium seating opportunities available today and coming soon at both SECU Stadium and XFINITY Center. SECU Stadium features luxury suites in various sizes, as well as covered, chairback mezzanine seating. XFINITY Center also offers luxury suites, courtside seating and The Maryland Club. At SECU Stadium, lower level ADA seating, while limited, is available on the concourse at the top of sections 2 and 28. ADA seating is available in every section in the 200 and 300 levels of SECU stadium and is located behind row H (200 level) & row F (300 level).At XFINITY Center, ADA seating is located in row 21, at the top of sections 105 and 110, as well as in row 4 in sections 203, 212, 216, and 225.

If I am a building partner, how does the per seat model affect me?
As a building partner, you have an existing agreement for a specified minimum annual giving level that you contribute to maintain your seat location. You will not be subject to an additional per seat contribution for your building partner seats, however, you will need to continue donating at the giving level established in your building partner agreement.If I am a Terrapin Club life member, how does the per seat model affect me?
Members who previously committed to a lifetime membership will continue to receive the benefits of tickets and parking without the requirement of a per seat contribution for their life member seats. Life member seat locations are not guaranteed during seat adjustment years. During years in which a seat adjustment occurs, life members will select seats based on their Terpoints.Why does the season ticket price listed on the seat chart differ from the price shown on the seat selection site?
The price shown on the seat selection site reflects the cost inclusive of an order charge.I am a Maryland Athletics letterwinner. How am I impacted by this change?
The cost of the season ticket in sections 3-7, 20-27 and 204-211 is discounted by 50% for active M Club members. You are responsible for the full cost of the per seat contribution. You can now sit in any section of the stadium and the cost of your ticket will depend on your location. There are no longer giving minimums associated with sections. You can also purchase up to 10 tickets at the discounted price.How do I pay the rest of the balance for my per seat contribution and my season tickets if I made a payment toward my per seat contribution before Dec. 31?
You will be prompted to pay the balance of your per seat contribution once you select your seats during the seat adjustment period. You can choose to pay the balance in full or take advantage of our seven-month payment plan.Can I get a refund on my per seat contribution if I go to select my seats and I don’t like my options?
Per seat contributions are non-refundable, as donors will have already received the benefit associated with the points and payment. If you do not want to continue the ticket purchase process once you go through the seat selection process, you can opt out and we will move your money into the Impact Fund and you will receive the Terrapin Club membership benefits associated with that giving level.If I have a surplus on my per seat contribution after I select my Football tickets, can I put that leftover per seat money toward Men’s Basketball seats?
Yes. We will work with you to do that. Also, if you are not a current men’s basketball season ticket holder but decide you would like to purchase men’s basketball tickets and you have a surplus from your football per seat contribution, we can work with you to move the money and to get you in the queue for a selection time for 2025-26 men’s basketball tickets.Contact Us
